Bwebweriki NET Ltd is now inviting suitably qualified persons for two vacant positions currently existing within the company. The full details of the posts are as follows:

JD# 01/25: Senior Technical Officer

General Objective of Job:

The appointees will be required to work on BNL’s East Micronesian Cable Landing Station for the operation and maintenance of the submarine cable transmission terminal and backhaul facilities located at Tarawa Island

List of Major Duties/Responsibilities:

Managing the daily operation & maintenance requirements of the submarine cable station.
Efficiently maintain international communication service level requirements.
Efficiently maintain communication service level requirements in the national network.
Submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
Ensure the operational station log is maintained.
Supervise and provide on-the-job training in specialized areas to technicians as required.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education: Advanced university degree in telecommunications, ICTs, or a related field OR education in a reputed college of advanced education with a diploma of equivalent standard to that of an advanced university degree in one of the fields below.
Qualification: University Degree in electrical / electronics, telecommunications/computer science or equivalent

Minimum Work Experience:

Comprehensive background and understanding of telecommunication/ ICT Sector. At least 3 years of hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas of the telecommunication / ICT sector: networking, computing, service provisioning, and operation and maintenance at a communication facility.

Special Skills Required:

Be able to work from time to time from Management instruction where necessary.

Personal Attributes:

Matured and of sober attitude
Require minimum supervision

The remuneration package will be offered according to BNL Salary Level.

Nature of Job:

Major Functions:

Assist the Senior Technical Officer in managing the daily operation & maintenance requirements of the submarine cable station.
Assist the Senior Technical Officer in maintaining international communication service level requirements.
Assist the Senior Technical Officer in maintaining communication service level requirements in the national network.
Submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
Maintain an updated operational station log.

Marginal Functions:

Perform any other relevant duties that may be assigned by his superiors.

PERSONNEL SPECIFICATION

Minimum Qualification Required:

Education: Tertiary education in a reputed college of advanced education with a diploma preferably in the ICT sector majoring in the fields of both electronics, computing, information, and communication technology.
Qualification: Diploma in ICT field or equivalent
